Maplesong is a dense, fibrous wood that emits a deep, humming sound when in moonlight. The song dissipates over time when the wood is used in construction, but can be preserved longer in cool, dry areas. Bards and shamans have the power to revivify the song in even the oldest maplesong boards.
The leaves make a sweet-flavored tea that is rather popular among the masses, though some consider it too sweet.
Maplesong trees are very sappy and produce the bulk of sweetener across the Islands.
